Position: General Manager

Reports to: Washington County Fair Inc. Board of Directors, Executive Committee

Supervises: All regular employees, temporary employees, superintendents, & volunteers

Classification: Full Time, Exempt

Pay Range: $65,000 - $80,000, depending on experience

 

The Washington County Fair is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, overseen by a volunteer board of directors. The Fair’s mission is to “promote agriculture, education, and home craft within the county and sponsor fairs and exhibits of the products and achievements thereof.” The Washington County Fair is a long-standing tradition, offering a mix of agricultural displays, livestock shows, entertainment, midway, and fun for the whole family, with attractions like demolition derbies, rodeo, and tractor pulls. The fair has been a part of the Washington County area and surrounding communities for over a century. The fairgrounds feature 133 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds and over 52,000 sq ft of indoor space. Additional annual events include a Homesteading Festival, Antique and Flea Markets, and a Wool and Arts Festival.
 

Job Summary

The General Manager combines leadership and management tasks with direct, hands-on work. This position is responsible for the management of the Washington County Fair and overall use of the grounds to include financial responsibilities, staffing, administration, operations, promotions and marketing. The GM will provide effective leadership and communications to plan, organize, and supervise safe and effective operations throughout the year following established policies and guidelines and applicable regulations. Duties include managing and maintaining the fairgrounds, operations, personnel, buildings, equipment and supplies. The General Manager will coordinate, schedule, and oversee all activities and events held at the fairgrounds. The General Managers will build strong relationships with board members, employees, volunteers, exhibitors, sponsors, and other stakeholders to meet goals and objectives.
